STEVIE
Television Series Pitch Strategy & Deck (In Development)
Overview:
STEVIE is a one-hour television series currently in development, based on the memoir Judy & Liza & Robert & Freddie & David & Sue & Me and the life of legendary Hollywood agent Stevie Phillips.
Role:
As a producer of the project, I collaborated closely with series creator Andra Gordon to refine the pilot script and develop a comprehensive show bible that captured the project’s unique value proposition. My role focused on building a compelling pitch package to secure talent and producer attachments, network interest, and financing – balancing punchy storytelling with strategic positioning to stand out in a highly competitive streaming landscape.
Deliverables included:
Comprehensive series bible detailing creative vision – character arcs, themes, episodic structure, tone – and market positioning
One-hour pilot script heavily reshaped in collaboration with series creator
Creative talent packaging strategy to secure director, producers, agency partners and key cast attachments
Process:
Author Alignment: Worked closely with the memoir’s author (and real-life subject) Stevie Phillips through many development phases to protect adaptation rights and maintain trust while shaping a fresh, contemporary vision.
Narrative Hooks for Buyers: Highlighted universal themes – gender politics, power dynamics, blurred lines in the workplace – to frame a retro story through a modern lens for streaming-era relevance.
Market positioning: Analyzed performance of comparable prestige television dramas (The Queen’s Gambit, Mad Men) to define tonal benchmarks and ensure differentiation in a crowded marketplace.
Creative / Commercial Balance: Structured pitch content to emphasize scalability and awards potential while staying anchored in character-driven storytelling.
Visual Language: Designed a cinematic pitch deck with dynamic typography, rich world-building, and a visual tone evocative of 1960s New York glamour and grit.
Integrated Packaging Strategy: Partnered with UTA and leveraged extensive show bible as a key asset to attract talent
Outcomes:
Major talent attachments: Secured Emmy-winning director Scott Winant, executive producer Sherryl Clark, and actor Ryan Eggold (with a deal option at NBC Universal).
Representation secured: Landed United Talent Agency (UTA, one of the most influential talent agencies in the entertainment industry) for series packaging and outreach to top-tier talent and major buyers.
